icon_3x3_black_HR_610x330I’m a fan of the Aliph Jawbone Bluetooth headsets and have been using them for quite some time. Aliph is releasing its next generation headset called the Icon, which features what they boast as the industry’s first software platform for a Bluetooth headset, called MyTalk.

From what I’m reading, the same Jawbone headset experience now gives you some software control over various features with MyTalk. Aliph says it is an OS on a headset that offers you the opportunity to customize your headset with various dialing and talk features, that offer a variety of voice profiles giving your headset possible different personalities. The physical design of the headset (you have choices) reflect the different voice profiles. (The Ace, the Hero, the Thinker, the Bombshell, the Rogue, and the Catch) and you can hear them in English, French, German, or Spanish. These profiles announce events like Caller ID, battery level, and the like.

The dialing apps essentially are speed dialing for services and Voice Dial. All of this is programmed through your computer with the Icon plugged in. An interesting note is that apparently there is no longer a volume control on the physical headset and you have to control this with your phone.
