Fujitsu Going Full Steam in Defense of iPad Trademark

Published

on

Business > Image >Remember that little trademark dispute over the name iPad we mentioned a week or so ago? You know the one where Fujitsu claims it has the trademark on iPad? Apple wants it. Fujitsu says it has it. Claims are made that Fujtsu never followed through on the process. Start the meter on legal fees.

Fujitsu doesn’t look to be taking this lying down, although according to The New York Times they are in consulting lawyers. But when you’ve got a chance to strike while the hype is hot, I guess you go for it.

For those (like me) who never heard of Fujitsu’s iPad, turns out it was a point of sale and inventory checking device for retail. That device was price at $2,000 or so at the time. Fujitsu applied for the trademark in 2003. The US Patent Office listed the application as abandoned in 2009, but Fujitsu revived the application last June. Apple was granted an extension until February 28 to fight the claim.

Apple should just go with iPod Touch XL. iPad sounds like a feminine product anyway. I’m still hoping for an iTablet, someday, that I could really use. I have an iPhone and really don’t see those apps as much use sitting in my easy chair on an XL version of it. The reader part is the only interesting part of this, and yet I would still want a pen to markup.

This semester, I had the opportunity to buy one of my books on the Kindle or a physical book. I chose the book as it comes with a PDF that I will be able to markup on my Tablets. This saves my the time of ripping them apart and scanning them.

    Ok; Here’s the deal:
The ipad failed to be what we (I) want it to be.
Now we’re counting on Fujitu to bring out it’s own ipad. It will be a replacement for the p1630, It will be under 2 lbs, last all day on a charge, have a good cpu (Intel i3?), a good gpu, a 125Gb ssd or better, 7 Gb of DRAM3, have Wacom capacitive/pen/multi-touch digitizer. It will use Windows 7 Professional, or Home Premium at the least. It will have a forward facing camera and a lighter rear facing camera, or one camera that does both. It will be out by June 2010, It will be the ipad as it should have been.
May the battle of the ipads begin.
