HTC Files Patent Complaints Against Apple

Posted by | 05/12/2010 | 2 Comments

The only thing that comes close to new device rumors in numbers these days are posts about companies filing patent infringement claims against each other. HTC, who has beeen sued by Apple, is now firing back filing a complaint with the International Trade Commission alleging that Apple is infringing on five patents. This is not a suit filed in US Federal court. But that may come down the road.

HTC is asking the ITC to halt Apple’s importation of the iPhone, iPad, and iPod.

And the wheels go round.

I’m a huge fan of protecting truly intellectual PROPERTY (as defined as a proven product, not just some arbitrary, obvious concept of something you can sit on and wait for someone else to “violate”), but this is just further proof of the abuse of the patent system that runs rampant these days.

yep, and they want to raise the cost of patents so only the “big boys” can play this game. At least that will reduce the lawsuits because there will only be a few companies left that have patents lol. . . .

You really have to wonder how much money it costs these companies every year to do this and what the end users would get if that money was spend on R&D instead.
