Getac E100 full rugged tablet gets upgraded

After a long while, Getac has upgraded their fully rugged E100 tablet with a speed bump while sticking to the tough MIL-STD 810G standard.

The processor gets a huge and overdue bump from Intel A110 800MHz to Intel Atom N450 1.66 GHz, along with an integrated graphics update. Another speed and mobility improvement is the switch from HDD to SSD, though still sticking with the 80GB capacity. This change improves data protection as there are no moving parts to break in an SSD, a major consideration when knocking a computer around in the field.

The 8.4″ 800 x 600 touchscreen remains the same with sunlight readable LCD. Additional improvements include a second Smart Card reader, fingerprint reader and embedded microphone. And it’s all still sealed in a magnesium alloy case with 2GB of memory, Gobi 3G broadband module, 802.11 agn, Bluetooth 2.1, and Windows 7 Professional. She ain’t the prettiest gal at the ball, but she can beat up all the other girls there.
