Bill Buxton Says Smaller, Thinner Surface Will Be In Homes in 3 Years

The talk lately is all about Tablets and Slates that’s for sure. But if Microsoft’s Principal Researcher Bill Buxton is correct, we might be seeing more multi-touch in the home about three years from now. In an interview with the Globe and Mail, Buxton says that he expects to see Microsoft Surface in homes in about three years. No, he’s not talking about the Surface Table as we know it now, but an evolved design will be as thin as a sheet of glass and the camera (now housed in that large table base) will be embedded in the glass.

Here’s a quote:

The best way to think about it is like a big LCD where there’s a fourth pixel in every triad. So there’s red, green, and blue pixels giving you light, and a fourth pixel which is a sensor that will capture stuff; go the other direction.
