Google Chrome OS Netbook Launching Tuesday?

Published

on

According to various reports Google is finally going to unveil its Chrome OS Netbook on Tuesday, December 7. In addition sources are saying that Google’s Chrome Web Store will be announced at the same time. Pictures of a Chrome OS keyboard have surfaced and this is fueling lots of talk. Word is also bouncing around that these will begin shipping on December 14. Invites have gone out for a “Chrome Event” on December 7, so I guess we’ll know on Tuesday what the skinny is.

Since I’ve been one of the folks who think this all may be too little too late, I’m curious to know what your thoughts are. Are you interested in a Chrome OS device? Let us know in the comments yes or no.

Very interested in a Chrome OS device. Reasons: Google is smart (esp. smarter than Apple and Microsoft), Chrome works simply and fast, and cloud computing is the scary future.

Do not use Google Chrome! I downloaded it about a month ago and it screwed up my computer – my internet download & upload speeds dropped by 50% or worse, several of my programs would not connect to download updates. It took me a couple of weeks and a couple hundred dollars to get this fixed! DO NOT USE GOOGLE CHROME!

Interested in getting one for my mum. Its exactly what she needs. Something stripped down to the basics, simple to use with no frills.

And if the google integration is good enough it might replace my iPad, which is a lovely piece of tech but absolutely useless as a productivity tool

Looking forward to this unveiling just as much as everyone else. I am not sure why the man a couple of lines above me had so many problems with Google Chrome but, I have used it quite extensivly with no real hiccups. But, I am afraid your right on the “too little too late” part … they really NEEDED to get the hype going & product actually out on the shelves by Black Friday … or at LEAST made a bit for a lot of Cyber Monday sales. So, I think Google really blew it there. I just hope the product is worth the wait by performing exceptionally a priced at a price point that will make Apple embarresed!
