Verizon Looks to be Getting the iPhone Within the Next Few Weeks. Announcement Expected Tuesday

As I was traveling (and preparing to travel) home from the Great Chicago Pilgrimage and CES 2011 was breaking up, Verizon popped out an invitation to an event scheduled for Tuesday, January 11 in New York City. That opened the floodgates of Verizon iPhone talk and since that time, and well, I’m sure you’ve read all about it. Even the Wall St. Journal has said it’s going to happen.

But in case you haven not, we’ve seen every thing from speculation that Verizon’s version of the iPhone will be the up to now absent white iPhone, to word that Verizon will give iPhone users unlimited data plans, to AT&T firing shots at Verizon. That last one pretty much confirms all the speculation. AT&T is saying that its GSM technology is faster than Verizon’s CDMA and that Verizon iPhone customers won’t be happy with life in the slow lane. That’s nothing short of cheeky given all the fun that AT&T iPhone customers have had to deal with on that network since the iPhone’s introduction.

There are still questions out there, like will Verizon junk up the iPhone with its usual load of software? Will customers be able to access data and make calls at the same time? Given that the big push is on for 4G by all the carriers what does a CDMA version actually mean in the big picture? Is it a CDMA version? With two carriers offering the iPhone in the US, will there be mulitple release schedules or will Apple have to modify its annual new phone schedule? Bottom line is that we all knew it was a matter of time, and the fun of it all will be seeing how the AT&T and Verizon comparisons end up say 3 months after this actually happens.

I have know idea why people complain about AT&T coverage I am coming from Verizon and being a customer of theirs since they were air touch , I can tell you AT&T is so much better with 0% dropped calls and the data is way faster. I will be happy when people leave AT&T for Verizon iPhone it will only make AT&T iPhone users have better rates better deals on new iPhones better everything. Verizon is offering LTE but not on this version and even when they do AT&T future iPhone’s have the possibility of running LTE and HSPA+ together which will mean it will be faster than Verizon and more reliable at all times. I also pay way less with AT&T and get more. Verizon with five phones only two with data I paid $266 a month on AT&T five phones three are Iphones four with data and family map unlimited text $239

you must be lucky, i have been with att since 2007, have had every model of the iphone except 4 because i was holding out for white, every other call i make or get on att network gets dropped. My contract ends feb 3rd, so i will give verizon a shot. I can not say if it will be better or worse untill i try. The reason i stuck with att so long is every time the new iphone came out i upgraded and it always extended my contract. thank god there was a problem with the white or i would be stuck another 2 years.

We have had AT&T for 3 years and had awesome service! My husband and I each have iPhone 3G’s and never had a dropped call, never have slow data, its been great! So we are getting ready to get the new iPhone 4 as well. I must admit we had thought about switching to Verizon, but after comparing plan prices, and reading a few articles about the comparison between iPhone service of Verizon to att…. I do think in the end att will come out on top! I just dont think the CDMA version will touch the GSM…. I guess we will see later on…. personally I would wait and see what everybody says about the iphone service with Verizon before leaving Att and being stuck with even crappier service!!!! Good luck to all that decide to chance the switch tho!!!!!

    Happy ATT customer!!!
