Breffo Spiderpodium Review: Versatile Phone Holder Attaches to Anything
The Breffo Spiderpodium is a pretty amazing smart phone accessory which can be used to hook your phone to pretty much anything you can imagine, or to prop your phone up for watching a movie or keeping an eye on your Twitter client.
The Breffo Spiderpodium is named for the 8 flexible legs which wrap around your gadgets and whatever is nearby to keep your smart phone within reach and view wether you’re running on a treadmill, walking a stroller, riding your bike, working on a car or pretty much any other activity that takes place around something with a pole, ledge or flat surface.
The Spiderpodium retails for $19.99 and it could be one of the most useful smart phone accessories we’ve had the opportunity to use simply because of all the places you can use it, and the manners in which you can use it. During our time with the Spiderpodium, we used it to keep our phone propped up on the desk, attached to a post while in line for the iPad 2 and in a variety of other manners.
Once you spend some time with the Spiderpodium you’ll come to think of it as the Duct Tape of phone accessories. You can use it in pretty much any situation, with pretty much any phone. You can even use it to prop up the iPad or iPad 2 if you want, but you’ll be better served by the just launched SpiderpodiumTablet which is a larger version designed specifically for tablets. One of the things we liked about the Spiderpodium is that it can be used with a case on your phone, which is pretty much a given for iPhone owners.
The Spiderpodium has 8 arms that can be articulated in 3 points as well as a fourth articulation where the arms connect to the base. You can choose which arms to connect to your device and which to connect to whatever you want to use as a temporary stand or holder for your iPhone or Android Device. You can even use the Spiderpdium to create a temporary tripod for your point and shoot camera.
The Spiderpodium folds flat for easy storage, or if you want can wrap around your phone to keep the screen from taking abuse when you toss it in a bag with all your other gear.
The only thing we don’t like about the Spiderpodium is that the center is made of a piece of plastic which snapped in half on our first review unit. Breffo siad that this was a rare occurrence and replaced the unit, just like they would do for a customer who purchased the Spiderpodium. The new unit has held up to our use, though the center has a little flex. We wish the whole Spiderpodium was made of metal, but if you treat the accessory with care, you should be OK.
The Breffo Spiderpodium is available direct from Breffo for $19.99 and comes in black and white.
