RIM: No BBM’ing your BFF on iOS

Published

on

After recent rumors that Research in Motion would be porting its BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) messaging app to the iPhone, the BlackBerry-maker is denying that such a move will happen at this time. At present, RIM doesn’t have plans to take BBM to the iOS platform so there will not be any cross-platform messaging.

BBM is one of the key unique features that BlackBerry users have come to love. As a messaging app, messages are delivered quickly and securely–much like an SMS or push email. There is also notifications for when messages are sent or read so you’ll know if the recipient has opened your messages. Best of all, for text-happy teens who are in the BlackBerry circle, you can eschew a text messaging plan and just consume data with BBM.

Most recently, Research in Motion had announced that it was opening up BBM so BlackBerry developers can integrate BBM and make it a social feature in their own apps.

For now, iOS users who were wishfully hoping that BlackBerry would open up its best kept secret to the iPhone can look elsewhere.

Get LiveProfile. It’s free, fast, really stable, just like BBM. It even has pins and lots of people are using it. And it is cross platform

RIM would never allow BBM on any other OS..nobody would buy a BB’s then…Although many people are switching from BB to other devices…most hospitals in NJ are ditching their BB’s for iPhones, including mine…See ya BlackBerry!

Of course this would be said by someone with a username of Mac Mini G5.  BlackBerry’s are still widely used and offer more security than other platforms.  I’m not saying that iOS and Android aren’t secure, but I’ve had my buddy try to hack my BB through bluetooth and had failed where he was able to easily start telling my brother what his text messages said on his iPhone.

Whats so wrong with Blackberry? It uses way less data than andriod or the iphone. In Canada since we don’t have unlimited plans with the big three its a big deal. So clueless… Try liveprofile as ping isn’t on Blackberry anymore- Which I don’t blame RIM. I can’t stand apple or android having used both. Windows phone you say? Shudder

Who cares? There are a ton of cross-platform BBM clones…LiveProfile being the newest and closest to BBM, but also Qik, and WhatsApp.

And getting away from BBM-like platforms, most phones can also IM via Facebook Chat, Skype, Twitter DM, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Google Talk, Fring and whatever else.

There nothing special with BBM, it’s just BB can f**ked up with ISP and get special package for their service. When Whatsapp, Line, or other messaging got service on ISP like BB, BBM will be dead.

Many messaging now have unique feature like BBM, have local group, get from contact (who use what), emo (Line have better stickers :D), profile, etc. So when those messaging got unique package (like on my country BB monthly package), BBM is dead, still waiting when my community will kill it :D

And we already disturb some BBM user by playing Line :D It’s only available for iPhone and Android
