Facebook has updated its social networking app for the Android platform, which is now available as a free download or upgrade to version 1.5.3, that brings a number of improvements, new features, and bug fixes.

Chief among the features of the new version 1.5.3 is the abulity to tag friends in status updates. Now, you can write a wall post or status update and add a mention of your friend to that message by typing @name, where name is replaced with your friend’s name, similar to Twitter.

There’s also a find friend feature as well as the ability to now add your phone number to your profile from the mobile app.
