Best Buy has announced that it will begin taking pre-orders for the HTC Flyer Wi-Fi only tablet starting April 24th. Best Buy declined to give a specific release date for the device and only gave a spring release window which we had heard before.
When the Wi-Fi HTC Flyer finally launches, it’s going to cost folks $499 which is pretty steep for a tablet rocking Android 2.3 Gingerbread and not Android 3.0 Honeycomb.
However, you should know, that we gave the HTC Flyer aka HTC EVO View 4G our Best Tablet Award for CTIA so there is a chance it could be worth the money to you.
Best Buy is the exclusive retailer for the Wi-Fi only version of the HTC Flyer so if you were hoping to get it someplace else you’re out of luck.
For those in Europe, the HTC Flyer will be launching in markets across the continent starting on May 9th. Specifics other than the release date are murky but we know that the device will carry a price tag of £599 in the United Kingdom at the very least.

Depends on your need / reliance on note taking / scribing, combined with gaming and fun. HTC Flyer is perfect combination …. (or, at least I hope so)
4 hours battery life is really not enough. If it can last 8 hours, this will be the best 7 inch tablet for me.
I pre-ordered one – had to do it in the store. The salespeople didn’t know what I was talking about but after some searching around on their system were able to help me out. The pre-order consists of buying a $50 gift card that can be used toward the actual purchase or something else.
