Panasonic Announces Toughbook Android Tablet Aimed at Enterprise
Panasonic has announced an enterprise-grade Toughbook Android tablet that that will feature a 10.1-inch display and will be on the market for businesses at some point later this year.
The Toughbook tablet will bring a secure, durable and functional device to professionals that work in an environment where those attributes are needed on an electronic device. Think construction, health workers or those in field service.
In addition to the 10.1-inch display, the Toughbook tablet will feature “an active stylus to enable signature capture in the field” as well as embedded security features within the hardware. It”ll also include satellite-based GPS, full-shift battery life, professional-grade accessories and optional embedded 3G/4G mobile broadband connectivity.
No specific release date or version of Android was given but Panasonic expects this to be out sometime during the fourth quarter of 2011. The company also failed to confirm the pricing of the Toughbook tablet either. Expect those details to come closer to launch.

They already are – see, e.g., the ToughBook 19 convertible. I’ll be very curious to hear how this compares to an iPad 2 in an OtterBox Defender.
