Droid Incredible 2 Gingerbread Update Begins to Roll Out

Published

on

We learned last week that the HTC Droid Incredible 2 Gingerbread update was imminent but we weren’t sure exactly when it would start rolling out. Well, it appears that tonight’s the night as the update is reportedly rolling out to Droid Incredible 2 owners at this very moment.

It appears that Droid Incredible 2 owners can pull the update manually by pulling the ole Menu > Settings > Software update > Check new routine but as we saw with the recent HTC ThunderBolt update, it’s also possible that some of you with Droid Incredible 2’s may not be able to pull it.

For those of you that do see it, the update is apparently 116MB in size which means that you’re going to have to wait awhile for it to install. That shouldn’t be a problem though, this is Android Gingerbread 2.3 that we’re talking about.

So, rejoice Droid Incredible 2 owners, Gingerbread is here. Let’s just hope that it doesn’t end up bricking phones like the Motorola Droid X update did.

Anyone seeing the update and if so, how’s it working out?

When you’re stock without root. My TB enjoys 2.3.4 with butter smooth ROM ( ginger3roy 4….. ) full video chat support fast Gps lock and all other goodies this amazing ROM offers. I’m not even going to mention battery life that HTC will never get it rite. Pass the work to developers and stuff will be done rite on first try. Get rooted coz u just missing out what’s Android is all about.

It works great! Fixed the issue I was having with my phone thinking north was south and south was north. It also seems to have sped everything up, even though my benchmarks have gone down(Linpack,Quadrant). I also got skype video chat to work! Chatted it up with my sister and nieces as a test today, works well for them having awful internet, and me on 3G.
