Delay in microSIM Shipment May Force Verizon to Sell Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G Without SIM Card

Verizon Wireless has sent out a notice to its retail employees notifying them that it is experiencing delays in acquiring shipments of microSIM cards. As the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G LTE model for the carrier will be the first device to use the microSIM standard, Verizon Wireless is advising its employees of options to take when selling the Galaxy Tab.

Retail employees can have the tablet and the microSIM 4G card shipped to customer or ask customers to return after 10 AM, which is the expected inventory delivery time. There are additional options right now for customers who wish to acquire the Galaxy Tab 10.1 without any long-term contract. Basically, for those people who do not wish to get a two-year contract, you can get your Galaxy Tab 10.1 on launch day and have Verizon ship you a 4G microSIM later.

When the device goes on sale today, it looks like there may be a bit of confusion for Verizon’s first true 4G LTE-enabled tablet.

Pretty lame. Might as well go for the WiFi-only version then….
