Motorola Droid X2 Gingerbread Update Now Available

Published

on

Four days ago, Verizon Support announced that the Motorola Droid X2 Gingerbread update had started rolling out for one of Motorola’s newest devices and that the software would be rolling out in stages to Droid X2 owners. Well, it appears that that roll out went smoothly because late last night, Verizon made the Droid X2 Gingerbread update available to all owners of the device. That’s right. You can now pull the update manually and get yourself some freshly baked Gingerbread this very minute. The update brings a host of improvements and features along with it and will surely make one of the best 3G smartphones available even better. That is, if Motorola and Verizon got this update right.

So, if you own a Droid X2, you’re going to want to do this in order to pull the update to your phone. I just did it and it’s simple: Menu>Settings>About phone>System updates. Boom, you should see be prompted and Gingerbread will be there for the taking.

If you recall, the Motorola Droid X Gingerbread update went horribly wrong for some folks and we have our fingers crossed hoping that the Droid X2 update works wonders with the device. Next up for Motorola and Verizon? The Droid 2 Global and Droid 2 Gingerbread updates which is a situation that is not looking good at all.
