T-Mobile Phone Owners Suffering from Unexplainable Battery Life Issues

Published

on

Battery life is absolutely huge when it comes to smartphones. Just ask iPhone users who consistently get great battery life and are able to charge up in a very short amount of time. Or ask HTC ThunderBolt owners who are on the other end of the spectrum and are lucky to get half a day out of their device. Battery life is a big deal and that’s why the problem that some T-Mobile phone owners seem to be facing is a big deal.

You see, at some point around July 28th, T-Mobile phones started suffering from battery drain issues. Specifically, T-Mobile G2 owners started seeing massive battery life problems and it appears that the problem isn’t just limited to the G2. It’s affecting a multitude of devices.

T-Mobile

T-Mobile, in an effort to get to the bottom of the issue, has started up a support thread where it’s asking for the public’s help in solving whatever this issue might be.

As Phandroid points out, there are questions about 3G and 2G data modes which has led some to believe that it might have something to do with T-Mobile’s network and not the actual phones themselves. Hardware, software  or otherwise.

Now, this isn’t your run of the mill issues. Just about every Android device has poor battery life but from what I’m reading, what G2 and others are seeing is abnormal. So, if you’re having this issue or know someone that is, make sure you send them here to try and sort out the problem in conjunction with T-Mobile.

Anyone seeing this on their G2, Samsung Vibrant, etc?

Proud owner of a g2, the drain is due to customer misuse 95% of the time. All android phone run full cpu clock speeds at all times, throw in 4g data and you’ll see a bigger decline. GPS and WIFI are the culprits mainly, customers running their gps on an android device shouldn’t get a full days use without extra charges. A g2 with and correct settings (no wifi or gps) can easily last over a full day with normal use. But this isnt just the g2 this is all android phones, the worst tmobile phone for battery life is the sensation. Large screen and retardedly large htc sense rom are the culprits.

Well Hd2brick with everything turned off and no apps installed on my phone, my G2 fully charged will be dead with in 4 to 5 hours. That’s with no use what so ever. There is a major problem with the network draining HTC android phones for some reason.

I have a g2 but I also run power scheduler and plug it in at night. So I do see some drain but I also live on it…

there’s no excuse y a smartphone owner shouldn’t have fully charged spare batteries on hand in case the main one drains b4 getting 2 a source. absolutely none.
