Motorola Droid Bionic Shows Up in Gorgeous New Photos

Published

on

Over the past couple of days, we’ve seen the Motorola Droid Bionic leak out in several new photos. First, we got a good look at it new design, its boot screen and an appropriately low battery status sign. Let’s hope that was just a joke and not some kind of foreshadowing.

Shortly after, we got a peek under the hood at its fairly big battery. We still doesn’t know how big it is mAh-wise, but we should know that for sure soon.

Then, yesterday, the FCC filing finally became public and we saw the 4.3-inch qHD display size confirmed. Obviously that probably disappointed many of you out there that were pulling for a 4.5-inch display.

And now today, we have managed to get our hands on what are, in my opinion, the clearest photos yet of the Motorola Droid Bionic. There are four photos in all and they give us a good look at all four sides of the Droid Bionic.

A look at the HDMI port and microUSB slot:

The volume rocker:

And finally, a look at the back of the Droid Bionic with its 8MP camera, Verizon logo, and its clear cut 4G LTE speeds:

The more I see of this phone, the more excited I am. What do you guys think? Are you digging it enough to buy it over the Samsung Galaxy S II especially T-Mobile’s 4.5-inch Samsung Hercules variant? Tough call at this point.

Note: When I say ‘gorgeous’, I am referring to the quality of the photos. Not the actual phone. The phone looks good too albeit clunky. But that should mean at least one thing: a huge battery. And this phone needs one.

It reminds me of Spider Man 3… I was excited initially but im pretty sure itll be an epic letdown once its finally released. They’ll just redo the whole thing in the end. What im saying in the galaxy s2 will rip this phone to pieces followed shortly by the HTC vigor.

I know….it is running the same cpu/gpu as the Droid 1….has only 1X, dont think it has 3G yet…

I’m curious…does Touchwiz and the screen make the GS2 that much more advanced?  The Vigor..if its the same Snapdragon thats in the EVO 3D and others…bumping it up to 1.5 doesnt really help with battery life, something that already an HTC weakness. Will the screen res being that high impact performance? Cuz around the geek campfire…the gpu in the Snapdragon is seen as the weakest.

The Exynos and OMAP are the top SoC according to some folks…so I dont see how the GS2 will rip it to pieces. Oh thats right….its clocked to 1.2Ghz.

Benchmarks of the LG 3D held its own, even passed the GS2 in some tests. That was when the GS2 was at 1 Ghz and probably before drivers and firmware was finalized. Still..the GS2 isnt that far ahead of the Bionic….or any recent dual core phone to be honest. One benchmark of the Droid 3 and Bionic came a close 2nd to the GS2. The Droid 3 with 1/2 the ram, a higher res screen….not bad for the OMAP if you ask me.

It’s running the same gpu/cpu as the Droid 1?  Where did you get that from?  The FCC filing shows it’s running a dual core 1 Ghz CPU.

well … that was poorly executed sarcasm as it points out somehow that dual core is deficient at 1Ghz … not LOL. How many devices are available with 1.ghz dual core CPUs again WITH LTE that don’t lose power within 6 hours of 4G-enabled use?

Hopefully this person is only using ATK to keep track of available ram and trouble shooting of problematic apps. It would piss me off to know an official tester has no clue what they are doing.

I know…imagine a tester having something on his phone that someone might use. They should only test the things that the really really smart people will use.(where’s the sarcasm smiley when I need it)

Yes, Rex. Gorgeous as in, the photos finally give us a clear cut view of the handset. As for the actual phone, well, that’s debatable.

I don’t understand – i think the photos (quality of images that is) are terrible – shaking hand, blurly and bad lighting.

I think I like my Thunderbolt much better. I like the HTC shape and in the hand feel not to mention the kickstand. I’m in a great LTE area and me data speeds are just sick. Still have my Sensation S-Off and rooted but am very happy I jumped on the Thunderbolt with all the data contract before it was too late.

The thunderbolt is junk, how can you even compare…specs came out that the bionic has tremendous battery life, the best they have seen yet…thunderbolt was for those sheep who wanted a single core lte phone…I’m grandfathered nto unlimited so I’m good…a lot of others are good too just because you got screwed into a junk phone is why u act the way u do…have fun with ur junk that once the bionic comes out u will be lucky to seel ur thunderbolt for a hundred buck…utter junk

I agree with “Guest” above me.  I bought the TB with the extended battery and am very happy with my purchase.  It does everything I need it to do.  If you prefer another phone, that’s your business, but please dispense with the name-calling because there are others who are pleased with something you don’t like.

That is one ugly giant brick. Disgusting. And it’s specs are worse than competitors. Not a good combo when you’re competing with the sexy S2 which will outperform it specs wise

another GS2 fanboy strikes again.  My question is this, has there actually been any official confirmation at all that the GS2 is coming to VZW?  I know we have heard from the other carriers actually getting it and go through the FCC testing motions but I still have yet to see something in stone come from VZ?  hmmmmmm…interesting indeed fanboy, interesting indeed.

That was my post, and I’m far from a SGS2 fanboy.  I want whatever phone is best.  All I’m saying is the S2 has the edge here unless it doesn’t come with LTE, which is still possible.  Of course it’s coming to VZW, don’t be ridiculous.

It’s got a better form factor, better screen, 1.2GHZ dual-core vs 1.0 on Bionic, Touchwiz 4.0 beats Motoblur…how far do I have to go on here?  All I’m saying is that the ugly form factor is not going to help it outsell it’s biggest competitor which already boasts better specs and is proven to be one of the best on the market already selling millions of units to the highest of praise.

I don’t think I’ll be getting a Bionic, and I might not be getting an S2 either, especially if it doesn’t come with LTE.  There’s a whole slew of great phones coming out within the next few months or so (HTC Vigor, SE Xperia Duo, Nexus Prime/3).

Maybe you should read a bit more carefully and think before you open your mouth, guest.

Hahaha…how can you say the S2 hs the edge here unless i doesn’t come with LTE.  Do you really think the form factor to not change if it does include LTE.  Some people do not prefer the screen of the sg2, as they feel it has a comic book style. Its not fact that 1.2 GHZ dual is better than the 1.0 off the bionic….especially if it is true that google’s preferred processor for ice cream will be the same processor in the bionic.  Touchziw 4.0 beating motoblur is nothing but an opinion.  There are plenty that has the new motoblur as 2nd in the UI department…behind sense.  To show just how even furher off you are…..you are making the SG2 the Bionic’s biggest competitor…when clearly the fruit phone is.  You clearly are looking over a lot of things….especially when form factor this looks just like a droid x, which despite the form factor sold well.

You don’t even know what the GSII will look like, nor do you know what its specs will be, nor when it will be released.  BEST is also a subjective descriptor… what is BEST to you is not what is BEST to someone else.  Specs are worse than it’s competitors?  What competitors?  The ones that haven’t even been release yet?  umm…. okay

Go on farther…..”how far do I have to go on for ” is a cop out……How does Touchwiz beat Motoblur? As someone who just ‘wants the best phone’ also, I find your comments entirely unhelpful.

I think that rather than outing Matt as a GS2 Fan Boy, you outed yourself as a moto bionic fan boy.  It was just his opinion.  You are the one with fanboy issues…

I didn’t realize the Bionic was coming with ICS, oh wait it’s not so that’s not really relevant.  Also, Google has picked TI Processors as preferred for ICS, not THIS particular processor.  By the time ICS comes out they will not be using the exact same OMAP that comes in the Bionic.  It’s true 1.2 is not necessarily better than 1 because a lot depends on how well it melds with the software, but all things equal, 1.2 is significantly better.

I call the S2 the biggest competitor because I feel like at this point people have either chosen Android or iOS as their OS of choice.  Sure there are some people that don’t care, but most of the people in my circles do have an opinion and like one or the other.  Another reason is because according to the latest leaks, they are both supposed to launch on the same day.  That makes it clearly the largest competitor from day 1.I don’t know anybody who doesn’t like the super amoled screen- probably just people who bought other devices and are jealous.  Not really sure where you’re getting this or if you’ve ever actually seen one but this is one of the top 3 displays out there.Sure the form factor will necessarily have to accomodate the LTE radios but when you’re already starting with one of the slimmest phones, I don’t think LTE is going to take it all the way to the huge hunchback that the Bionic is.  Plus, that stupid little extra 1/4” where the VZW logo is on the bottom just looks terrible and out of place.  It looks like a slider from the front.I don’t know anybody who really likes Motoblur, and tons of people rave about Touchwiz 4.0.

In the end, we are bickering about two amazing devices, both of which we would probably love if we bought.  That’s the great thing about Android, we have a choice which device we like the best, unlike the fruity competitor.

This is totally the Targa. I’m excited, because the old Bionic design just seemed generic, where as this looks sleek. I’ve been rocking a Thunderbolt, but I will drop HTC in a heartbeat for a better Moto.
