Skype just made it easier to get online at over a million hotspots worldwide with the new Skype WiFi app for iOS.

Skype WiFi, which used to be called Skype Access, let’s you connect to hotspots in airports and coffee shops with your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad without buying huge blocks of time and pulling out your credit card.

Instead, the Skype WiFi app lets you pay with your Skype account and pay only for the time you use. Per minute charges start at 6 cents with no limits on the amount of data you can upload or download.

The Skype WiFi app doesn’t just get you online to use Skype, you can use your iPhone or iPad as if you were connected to a standard WiFi network. Because you pay per minute, you don’t need to feel bad about connecting to download email or a quick app and leaving 50 minutes of unused WiFi behind.
