If you’ve ever wished for the ability to chat without a language barrier in the way, Transfire app for the iPhone is a must download app. This app acts like a Babel fish for your iPhone, automatically translating your chat sessions into 50 languages in real-time.
The Transfire app is a free download and connects to Google Chat, allowing you to communicate in real-time with friends, family and co-workers who speak another language.
When you send an outgoing chat, the app translates it into the language you have set up for your friends, which means the app will work even if the person on the other end of the chat isn’t a Transfire user.
When you get a message, it will automatically be translated into your default language. After you choose your default language in the app settings all the messages you receive will be automatically translated.
If you want, you can use the Phonetic Transliteration features to pronounce and sound out the translated message. Essentially this could help you develop your language skills as it delivers an easy way for you to read and pronounce the incoming chat. You can also have Transfire speak the message including a proper accent.
I wouldn’t use this app to negotiate a major multi nation deal, as there’s always the opportunity for something to go awry in auto translation, but if you just want to chat without a language barrier, it’s worth downloading.
