Windows 8 Tablets Run on AMD Processors Too (Video)
Not that we don’t already know Windows can run on AMD processors, but in the interest of fairness, here’s a video from Engadget featuring an Acer Iconia Tab W500 and MSI WindPad 110W running Windows 8 on AMD processors.
The Acer is running on their C-50 accelerated processing unit (APU), while the MSI uses the Z-01 APU. Both are part of the AMD Fusion line. AMD initially had trouble competing against the low-powered Intel Atom line, and heat from an AMD processor contributed to issues with the HP tx1000 a couple years back. I don’t know if they’ve caught up exactly, but in the years since then, they do seem to have reached a position of competitiveness for the launch of Windows 8 tablets.
