Samsung Nexus Prime Hitting Verizon on October 27th?

Published

on

While we’re pretty sure Samsung and Google will be introducing the first Android Ice Cream Sandwich powered device, the Nexus Prime aka Galaxy Nexus, on October 11th at CTIA, we’re still unsure about when the device will be arriving on shelves. We’ve heard November 3rd mentioned as a possible release date before and now, some new intel has suggested that it might, at the very least, be hitting Verizon on October 27th.

That intel is apparently some info that is arriving in Verizon inbox’s today and it lists a certain ‘Samsung Prime’, a Droid Charge replacement, as a device that will be hitting Verizon’s network on October 27th.

Of course, it also says that the dates are subject to change so it’s possible that October 27th may not end up being the actual release date. It is certainly a date to circle on your mental calendar though.

Nexus Prime

Here are the contents of the message:

Motorola Xoom 4G LTE Tablet – 10/6
Pantech Hotshot – 10/6
Samsung Stratosphere 4G- 10/13
Pantech 4G Global Modem- 10/20
Samsung Prime (Replacement for Charge) 10/27

No mention of the HTC Vigor which is a bit curious seeing as though we had heard that it might be destined for an October launch. Still, I theorized that Samsung and Google and thus, the carriers, probably wanted to give the Prime launch some space and it appears that they have done just that.

In any event, we’re just a few weeks away from a launch and that’s exciting.

Any thoughts/rumors on when/if the Prime will hit AT&T? Please tell me it won’t be a VZW Exclusive!

Don’t go Postal on us Jim but ATT, seriously? They have no real LTE network build up yet. They don’t even have an HSPA+ metwork that equals TMobile. So I want to see it on VZW.

As amazing as my Droid Incredible is, especially being almost 18 months old, I’m quite excited to see what the Nexus Prime has to offer.

Don’t worry, I’m sure all other carriers with get the Nexus Prime, while Verizon will get the Droid Prime loaded with bloatware and Gingerbread Touchwiz

Does it make any sense that Verizon is getting two top Android phones and Sprint is only getting the iFail 4S?

I’m not leaving Sprint for Verizon’s ripoff prices. I really want the Nexus Prime to debut on Sprint.

I would be stupid happy if on the 11th, Verizon unveiled the Vigor and Sprint unveiled the Nexus Prime.

It makes sense since the Vigor is compatible with Verizon’s high speed network and the Prime isn’t. It makes sense that the Prime debuts on Sprint and is 4G compatible. Google is also close to sprint with the whole Google voice integration.

You just got the new Galaxy S II Epic Touch from Samsung, no chance in hell you’re getting the Nexus Prime, Samsung Prime, Droid Prime, Samsung Nexus Prime or God knows what the hell it’s gonna be called.
