Apple Botches Major Product Launch, Website Down While Pre-Orders Begin

Chuong Nguyen —  10/07/2011

It’s one thing to have your site fail under heavy traffic, as is the case with AT&T, but it’s another thing when pre-orders are now 20 minutes in on the day that your product is launching and your site is still down for maintenance. Apple’s online store, as of 12:21 AM Pacific Time, is still down with a message saying that they’ll be back soon.

For those that have been following, the iPhone 4S is supposed to be open to pre-orders beginning 12:01 AM Pacific Time on October 7.

In the meantime, Sprint’s and Verizon’s stores are fully functional and both sites are ready to take your credit card information for those pre-ordering the iPhone 4S.
