New HTC Ville Leak Reveals Curved Glass, Slim Form Factor

By  |  5 Comments

Following an earlier leak of the HTC Ville Android smartphone, we have a more detailed render of what HTC’s next-generation Android smartphone will look like. The Ville will be an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich device with a dual-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 CPU from Qualcomm and is anticipated to be launched in February 2012, perhaps at the Mobile World Congress trade show.

The new images of the device from pocketnow reveals a curved back side with what appears to be a unibody construction with plastic cutouts at the top and bottom to improve reception. The sides of the glass on the front curves downward to wrap itself around to the sides of the device, giving it a seamless look and should help aid in usability when swiping between home screens. The curved glass is reminiscent of the Nokia Lumia 800, though the glass screen on the Ville won’t protrude upwards.

The device is said to be utilizing a qHD resolution Super AMOLED display panel at 4.3-inch. This would be a departure from HTC’s recent use on non-PenTile displays as Super AMOLED is based on a PenTile sub-pixel arrangement.

The device will have a rear-facing 8-megapixel camera with improved optics that’s also capable of 1080p HD video recording. Along with Beats Audio support, this device will also have HSPA+ support, making it a candidate for either T-Mobile or AT&T in the U.S.
