How to Customize the Galaxy Nexus Favorites Tray

The Galaxy Nexus includes the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system that includes a number of major improvements.

One of the most noticeable is the new Favorites Tray, or homescreen dock, that includes shortcuts to your four most used apps.

You can change which apps are in your Favorites Tray, just like you can change the apps in the iPhone’s dock.

This short guide will show you how to customize your favorite apps on the Galaxy Nexus.

You can replace any of the app icons in the favorites tray, except fo the middle one which launches all of your apps.

  1. Make room for a new app by dragging one of your current favorite to the homescreen.
  2. Drag your new app to the empty space that was created.

Nothing more to it, now you can access the app from any home screen.

The video below shows how to customize the Galaxy Nexus Favorites Tray, so you can see the process in action.

You can even add a folder to the Favorites Tray so that you can access even more apps from any homescreen. This is a nice touch, and way more convenient than the limiting 4 icons found on the iPhone 4S.
