Before you begin any jailbreak, it is always good house keeping to make a complete backup of your device which can be restored from in the event of any issues occurring. No problems are predicted, but the complexities of using a command line tool should be taken seriously.

    Hi Josh,

Thanks for such a great article.  I jailbroke my 4S and it’s running as it should with minor problems on some of the Cydia Apps I used to use on my 3GS.  The only real problem is my calculator is quarter size, so I had to write the creator of the ‘Pretty Pink’ mod and let them know … otherwise … Siri works fine (and she is now in a rainbow color) and I can tether again with MyWi5!!

I do have one question for you to think about writing about.  Apple will probably come up with an update and the 4S updates wirelessly (well, IOS 5 updates wirelessly), so how can we keep it from updating to keep our jailbreaks intact?

Not illegal (in the US), but will violate your warranty (everywhere)
