HTC One X Closer to Launching on AT&T

One of the more interesting devices that came out of the Mobile World Congress was the HTC One X, the new flagship smartphone from HTC that is headed to both international carriers and to AT&T’s 4G LTE network. And while we still don’t know exactly when it’s going to be arriving, other than a Q2 launch window, we do know that it just got closer to launching on AT&T.

Engadget has discovered that the HTC One X has passed through the FCC with 4G LTE bands 4 and 17. However, it appears that the device will also be capable of connecting to the carrier’s HSPA+ 4G network as it also has 850MHz and 1900MHz radios.

This is a good thing as AT&T’s 4G LTE network still doesn’t have a wide footprint and is only available in around 30 markets in and around the United States.

HTC One X Gets Closer to Launching on AT&T

What’s better is that this, the passing through the FCC, means that we have just gotten a little closer to the launch of the One X on AT&T.

We went hands-on with the device and found it to be a very solid offering and one that those looking for a new smartphone should keep their eyes on.

You can get a closer look at the HTC One X and its Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (with HTC Sense 4.0) operating system in the video below:

Now, keep in mind.

AT&T’s model is not going to feature a Tegra 3 quad-core processor like the model that is headed to international carriers. Instead, AT&T’s version is going to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core processor. The reason?

Simple.

AT&T wanted to get this phone out in a relatively quick manner and it didn’t want to wait for NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 to get 4G LTE support, something that it just recently was able to obtain.

For some, this might be a deal breaker but the dual-core processor should work well for most.

In addition to the dual-core processor, the HTC One X has 4.7-inch 720p HD display with Gorilla Glass, an 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera for video chatting purposes, 1GB of RAM, an HDMI connector for TV-out, and an extremely thin design which checks in at 9.5mm.
