HTC One X for AT&T and One S for T-Mobile Delayed?

According to SemiAccurate, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has halted production of the 28 nm chip and production apparently won’t resume until the end of this month. Now, what does this mean exactly? Well, it could mean that devices that have Qualcomm’s new S4 Snapdragon processor, phones like the HTC One X for AT&T and the One S for T-Mobile might be delayed.

The reason is because the S4 uses the 28nm manufacturing process. Qualcomm designed the chip but it’s actually TSMC that makes it.

So, if the process has indeed been shut down until the end of March, we could be looking at a release date beyond April, the expected launch date for both devices here in the United States.

The Galaxy S III is rumored to be an absolute beast of a smartphone and HTC’s One X, even with its fantastic specs and software, would be overshadowed almost immediately.

Same goes for the HTC One S.

We’re just going to assume, for now, that both devices are still on track, but we’ll let you know if we hear otherwise as we get closer to April.
