Angry Birds Space for Windows Phone Coming to Lumia Devices First?

Rovio has confirmed that its new version of Angry Birds, Angry Birds Space, will be coming to Windows Phone at some point but it appears that it might not come to all Windows Phone devices at the start.

Reading into a Rovio Chief Executive Mikael Hed, WMPowerUser suggests that the game might actually come to Nokia’s Lumia line of phones first.

Hed announced that the popular application will be coming to Windows Phone at some point but it hasn’t specified which devices it will be compatible with or when it’s coming exactly.

His statements came after another executive claimed the game would not be coming to Microsoft’s platform.

In regards to the Windows Phone app, Hed stated:

“We are working closely together with Nokia to bring our games to their platforms. Our mutual goal is to bring the best possible experience to our fans, including all fans using Windows Phone devices.”

Nokia, of course, has begun using Microsoft’s Windows Phone as the platform. It’s possible that Hed misspoke but it wouldn’t be shocking to see Rovio release the game as a timed exclusive on Nokia Lumia devices.

After all, AT&T is spending a fortune marketing its Lumia 900 in the United States and Nokia has taken an aggressive approach to the market with its releases.

What would be surprising is if Rovio released the application as a permanent exclusive for Nokia’s Windows Phone handsets. So, those who own Windows Phone devices not made by Nokia need not worry too much at this point.
