T-Mobile Android 4.0 Update Roadmap Reveals Long Waits

T-Mobile customers have been wondering when the carrier might be rolling out Android 4.0 updates for some of its devices. A new Ice Cream Sandwich roadmap leak might have finally shed some light on those answers.

TMoNews has acquired a leaked Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich roadmap that shows specific dates that T-Mobile has lined up for Ice Cream Sandwich updates for the HTC Amaze 4G, HTC Sensation 4G, and the Samsung Galaxy S II.

Though, if these dates are accurate, customers who own those devices might be in for a long wait.

The document reveals that T-Mobile isn’t planning on getting updates out to these three devices until the summer rolls around. Specifically, it looks like June 16th is the targeted Android 4.0 roll out date for both the HTC Sensation 4G and HTC Amaze 4G while  the Samsung Galaxy S II isn’t slated to get Android 4.0 until May 14th.

Of course, these dates are subject to change which means that we could see them sooner or later, depending on how testing goes.

This revelation comes shortly after Samsung revealed that it didn’t know when it and T-Mobile would be updating the Galaxy S II, instead saying that it was working with the carrier and that news would be revealed in the months ahead.

As for the HTC Sensation 4G, the Android 4.0 software roll out was originally slated for April, however, the carrier later confirmed that the software would be delayed until an unspecified date.

Also of note is the fact that those are the only devices mentioned here. Devices like the T-Mobile G2x, G2 and myTouch 4G are nowhere to be found.

Owners of those devices should temper expectations but should not give up hope just yet, not until the carrier makes an official announcement.

As it stands, Android 4.0 is still not available on many Android devices including flagship phones like the HTC Rezound, Motorola Droid RAZR and Motorola Droid RAZR MAXX.

Google released the software back in 2011. Android 4.0 is a vast upgrade over the company’s previous version of Android, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and comes loaded with features and a new streamlined user interface.

However, carriers have been slow to get their phones upgraded.

The author makes it sound like it is going to be a long time for the updates. Summer begins June 21st. Two and a half weeks is not that far away for the S2 to get the update. I wonder if the author knows how long 2 and a half weeks really are.

I agree, pure sensationalism, his dates are wrong too, gs2 says 5/15, and htcs is marked 6/16. You can keeper what you’re smoking.

HELLO BUT HTC WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE THE UPDATE IN MARCH AS PER HTC, IF THE CARRIERS WANTS TO MAKE MORE CHANGES AND PUNISH THE CUSTOMER IS NOT FAIR AND THAT WAS PROMISED IN NOVEMBER 2011, SO IT’S BEEN A LONG WAIT. MAY BE WHO IS DEFENDING  THE CARRIERS WORKS FOR THEM. I’M VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE LONG WAIT.
