iPhone 4S Jailbreak: My Essential Jailbreak Apps
The iPhone 4S jailbreak is almost here and even though I left the land of jailbroken iPhones in March, I can’t wait to come back and install the iPhone 4S jailbreak apps I miss.
There are way too many iPhone 4S jailbreak apps to cover each one, but there are a few I plan to install as soon as my iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak completes.
From supercharging Siri to making it easier to use the iPhone at night, these are the first Cydia apps and tweaks I will install on my iPhone 4S.
Favorite iPhone 4S Jailbreak Apps and Tweaks
After a bad experience with battery life and crashes, I am keeping it simple this time, installing just the essential jailbreak apps on my iPhone 4S. I hope that this will deliver a better experience and allow me to use the iPhone 4s jailbroken on iOS 5.1.1 for a while, or at least until the iOS 6 beta comes out. Before you start, be sure to read, Why Not to Jailbreak.
I constantly need to toggle WiFi, Bluetooth and the brightness of my iPhone and going to settings is such a pain. SBSettings makes it simple to control these settings in the Notification Center. Check out the video below to see what the fuss is all about.
One of the apps I miss the most is SiriToggles, a tweak that allows me to use Siri to open apps and change settings. I can’t use it to start playing a specific station in Pandora, but I can use it to open the app which is a nice touch.
SiriToggles is one of many Siri iPhone 4S Jailbreak tweaks, but it’s my favorite.
Anyone who reads or uses the iPhone at night needs to check out f.lux for the iPhone. This free app adjusts the color temperature of the screen based on the time of day so that your eyes aren’t blown out by all the bright blue light of the standard iPhone display. Check out a sample of how the iPhone 4S display looks with f.lux.
I know that the display may not look as pretty, but the light is not as harsh in the late evening so it should be easier to go to sleep. Anecdotally it works for me.
Five Icon Dock
Five icon dock is such a simple tweak, but it’s my favorite way to get one more app on the iPhone home screen.
The tweak lets me keep another app at constant access and was one of the toughest to lose when I un-jailbroke. There is a tweak for a 5 icon switcher, but I found it too hard to hit the close app sign when I was using that tweak.
PhoneGV gave me issues when I tried it last, but I am hoping that it will deliver a better Google Voice experience on the iPhone this time around.
PhoneGV integrates with the dialer to automatically use your Google Voice number when you place a call from contacts or any number on the phone. It is an awesome way to avoid using the mediocre Google Voice iPhone app and to return calls made to your Google Voice number.
