Verizon has approved the Samsung Galaxy Nexus Android 4.0.4 update which means that the software should be rolling out Over-the-Air to device owners soon.

Droid-Life has discovered that the carrier has posted a changelog for the update on its website which means that the carrier has approved the update and that it should be hitting users in the next few days.

As expected, the 39MB update is going to come with several fixes for the device including fix for the device’s audio issues that have been plaguing users for months on end.

Verizon also says that the update will take care of the freezing and response issues that Galaxy Nexus owners have been dealing with.

This update has been a long time coming for Verizon Galaxy Nexus who have been waiting for over five months for Verizon to roll out Android 4.0.4.

The road to the update has been a treacherous one for some with some Galaxy Nexus owners paying their ETF fee and leaving Verizon altogether.

Those that stuck it out should be greeted with an OTA update in the not-so-distant future, possibly as soon as today. Those that want to check will want to go to the Settings on the Galaxy Nexus, then to About Phone  and then System updates to check for the software.

Once available, users will be prompted to download software which, because of its size, shouldn’t take too long to download.

Now that the update is finally coming out, do you feel relieved Galaxy Nexus owners?

Also, be sure to let us know when you see the update.

I checked that software page notice on Verizon and still see the old ICL53F page.
I will be relieved when the update actually arrives in the phone I am holding.

I bought my GNex on day one. I waited as Verizon updated the Razr…twice. That waiting time didn’t go to waste. I read and read and learned how to root and flash custom ROMs to my phone. Currently, I’m running AOKP 4.0.4(build37). I also flashed the updated radios (which still haven’t fixed the connection issues). Another bonus to custom ROMs…free WiFi tethering. Maybe Verizon should have worked a little faster to address the bugs. I won’t be relying on them for any updates anymore. Happy waiting to the rest of you.

I was aware of some issues on the phone when I purchased it in January so I returned it and picked one up in March. I’m overly happy to see Verizon finally stepping up and giving the stock Gnex owners what should have been done in March at the latest. My phone has been fine for the most part but I’m impatiently waiting on the 4.04 update as every other G nexus and even the nexus s all are on 4.04
