Sprint’s Samsung Galaxy S III Delayed

Published

on

Sprint has officially delayed all models of the Samsung Galaxy S III release date beyond its scheduled June 21st launch.

The carrier has released a statement indicating that because Samsung is unable to meet demand, the carrier will have to push the launch date of the Samsung Galaxy S III back to an unspecified date.

Wirefly has told us that the carrier expects to start selling the Galaxy S III starting on June 28th, but as of yet, the carrier has not made that date official leaving interested customers in the dark.

Sprint Galaxy S III Release Date Officially Delayed

Sprint's Galaxy S III has been delayed.

Here is Sprint’s statement, in its entirety:

Due to overwhelming demand for Galaxy S III worldwide, Samsung has informed us they will not be able to deliver enough inventory of Galaxy S III for Sprint to begin selling the device on June 21. We are working closely with Samsung on a delivery schedule to support our launch.

We have begun shipping pre-orders for the 16GB version of Samsung Galaxy S III and anticipate they will be delivered by June 21. We hope to begin shipping pre-orders for the 32GB version next week as we receive inventory. Customers can check the status of their pre-order at www.sprint.com/myorder.

As we told you earlier today, the carrier has indeed begun to ship out 16GB Samsung Galaxy S III’s to those who pre-ordered. Those units should arrive on door steps starting tomorrow.

The carrier has already said that it won’t start shipping the 32GB Galaxy S III until next week.

This is the second black eye for a 4G LTE Sprint smartphone in recent weeks with the HTC EVO 4G LTE launch date getting delayed because of a patent issue that HTC had with Apple.

The HTC EVO 4G LTE was originally supposed to debut May 17th but instead ended up launching on June 2nd.

My Sprint GS3 arrived this morning in Pebble Blue 16GB. I have obviously been busy playing and seeing if there’s any noticeable benefit of its 2GB Ram(1.6) vs my international quad core Exynos 4412 white GS3. So far they both are running buttery smooth. The pentile screen is a non issue for me, between this screen and my HTC ONE X quad this would rate a 9 whereas the HOX is a 10. They are all winners in my opinion. Competition is good.
