iPhone 5 Release Date Pegged for September 21st

A new report has pegged the iPhone 5 release date as September 21st.

According to Cult of Mac, a French blog called App4Phone is claiming that the iPhone 5 will be launched earlier than its expected October release date and will instead hit shelves on September 21st.

The report cites a source from within China’s third largest accessory maker who claims that Apple has said to expect a release date in late September.

If true, it would likely mean that Apple would announce the next iPhone earlier on in September as the iPhone release date typically comes a few days after the announcement takes place.

This is not the first time that we’ve heard that Apple might be bumping up the iPhone 5 release date from October but at this point, it still seems pretty unlikely, especially because Verizon seems to think that the iPhone 5 release date will arrive in Q4.

Apple has yet to announce anything official in regards to the device, so it’s possible that the iPhone 5 might arrive a little earlier this year, but it should definitely not be expected.

The news comes shortly after another report claimed that the iPhone 5 would indeed have a new 19-pin dock connector. This would allow for Apple to release a thinner iPhone and it would allow the company to better place the headphone jack, possibly at the bottom of the smartphone.

The company is also rumored to have started iPhone 5 production at Pegatron ahead of the device’s release date.

The iPhone 5, Apple’s sixth-generation iPhone, has been rumored to be coming out in the months of August, September or October with October being the likely launch month for the device. Today’s rumor about a September 21st release date doesn’t change that.

Apple released the iPhone 4S and iOS 5 in October of 2011 and while September 21st is close, we expect the company to follow a similar cycle with the upcoming iPhone 5 and iOS 6.

iPhone 5 Rumors

The iPhone 5 is rumored to be a big upgrade over the iPhone 4S.

Our exclusive engineering samples seemed to show a taller iPhone 5, which could mean that the device is going to have a larger 4-inch screen.

It’s also heavily rumored to include 4G LTE capabilities, NFC support and 1GB of RAM tucked inside of its design as well as a quad-core processor, a thin design, a metal backing instead of a glass one and a high-definition front-facing camera for improved video chat.
