Samsung is preparing to launch the Galaxy Note 2 on August 29th in Berlin ahead of the IFA 2012 trade show.

Invites for the Galaxy Note 2 launch event went out yesterday to members of the press, but contained no details about which devices Samsung would show off.

Put the speculation away. On August 29th, Samsung will show off the Galaxy Note 2 and likely announce the Galaxy Note release date and carriers.

A Samsung spokesperson tells Reuters, “We plan to unveil the next Galaxy Note at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin on August 29.”

Galaxy Note 2 Launch Date August 29th Confirmed

Samsung confirms the Galaxy Note 2 Launch Event.

This confirmation leaves the August 15th Samsung event in New York City up in the air, though it is likely related to the Galaxy Note 10.1. Samsung is not likely to show off the U.S. Galaxy Note 2 ahead of the Unpacked event in Berlin.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Rumors & Specs

Thanks to tighter security there are few Samsung Galaxy Note 2 leaks, and no images of the new device, though we have some information about what we can expect on the new Galaxy Note.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is rumored to use the 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos 4412 processor and ship with 4G LTE connectivity. Many Samsung devices ship with dual core processors in the U.S. to accommodate 4G LTE, but Samsung can pack both into the same phone now. This time around we expect the U.S. Galaxy Note 2 to include the latest quad-core processor and 4G LTE.

Rumors point to 1.5GB of RAM in the Galaxy Note 2.

Rumors say the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will boast a larger 5.5-inch display, up from the Galaxy Note’s 5.3-inch screen. Samsung may be able to deliver the larger display without increasing the size of the device thanks to thinner bezels. We saw this on the Galaxy S III, which uses a 4.8-inch screen and remains similar in size to those with 4.3 to 4.5-inch displays.

Galaxy Note 2 Release Date - Stylus

The Galaxy Note 2 is expected to feature a larger display, and stylus.

The Galaxy Note 2 will ship with the S-Pen, but there are no rumors about possible changes to the design or functionality. Samsung may announce new S-Pen apps at the Unpacked event in Berlin.

While T-Mobile is launching the Galaxy Note, don’t expect to see the Galaxy Note 2 arrive on T-Mobile, Verizon or Sprint. Samsung may not announce the U.S. Galaxy Note release date specifically, but we expect it will name AT&T and provide a vague date this fall. Samsung will put the Galaxy Note 2 up against the iPhone 5 this fall.

Samsung is reportedly working on design changes to the phone, to bring the style up to date with the recently launched Galaxy S III. The Samsung Galaxy S III features a reasonable form factor, thin design and a very sturdy feel despite the plastic body.

There is hope that Samsung will deliver Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on the Galaxy Note 2 at launch, even though benchmarks show Android 4.0 ice Cream Sandwich. In addition to small visual updates and features, Android 4.1 comes with Project Butter, which makes the Android interface smoother and snappier, as shown in the video below.

Samsung should include a better camera on the Galaxy Note 2, and will likely bring over some of the features found on the Galaxy S III.
