Apple won’t comment on the existence of the iPhone 5, but with a potential for the iPhone 5 release date in weeks, Chinese manufacturers are gearing up.
These aren’t the first iPhone 5 cases we’ve seen, but it is the largest variety of cases. A manufacturer in China sent photos of the iPhone 5 cases as an example of the various cases available for sale.
The TPU or plastic style cases are commonly found on eBay and in mall kiosks. These cases are likely designed based on the same iPhone 5 leaks and rumors we report. So it’s no shock that they match most of the rumors.
Chinese manufacturers are preparing for a taller thinner iPhone, and the hard cases show they think the sides will stay flat like the iPhone 4S.
The rear of these new cases show what appears to be a wider camera opening, which may accomodate the rumored rear facing microphone.
The base of these cases show opening for a small dock connector, which may offer magsafe connectivity, as well as two speakers and an opening for the bottom headphone jack.
iPhone 5 Rumors
Many rumors point to an iPhone 5 launch event on September 12th, likely at Apple headquarters in Cupertino Calif. Apple is known for orchestrating large launch events which add to the hype.
Apple typically concludes the event by announcing the price and availability, which means shopper should receive confirmation of the $199 starting price and rumored iPhone 5 release date of September 21st.
Even though Apple has not confirmed the existence of the new iPhone, or the iPhone 5 name which many use to describe the next generation device, much is known thanks to leaks. The video below describes what we think we know about the iPhone 5 features and design.
Apple is likely to launch the new iPhone with a new Apple A5X processor, like the one found in the new iPad. The next generation iPhone should feature faster 4G LTE connectivity on Sprint, AT&T and Verizon.
Claimed iPhone 5 parts leaks point to a 4-inch display with a new HDTV-like aspect ratio. This makes for a taller iPhone, but Apple is said to reduce the amount of plastic at the top and bottom of the iPhone, called the bezel, in order to keep the phone from growing dramatically taller.
