Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD Passes Through FCC

Huawei’s MediaPad 10 FHD tablet is just about ready for a U.S. release as evidenced by its passing through the FCC.

According to Engadget, the Chinese 10-inch tablet recently made its way through the FCC, and the agency deemed it safe enough to sell to U.S. consumers. As with other FCC approvals, this one came with a number of photos of the outside of the device along with some pictures of the parts inside it.

The Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD is an Android tablet with a 10-inch 1920×1200 IPS display. If the design looks familiar that’s because it looks just like the first Huawei MediaPad which came to the U.S. as the T-Mobile Springboard. The tablet has a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, and 2GB of RAM.

When Huawei announced the tablet in February it was running Android 4.0, though we doubt that has changed much.

The MediaPad 10FHD also has HSPA+ radios that match the previous version, so a T-Mobile release wouldn’t be surprising at all. The radios in the tablet are capable of HSPA+ 84Mbps, though T-Mobile’s network only support sup to HSPA+ 42Mbps, which is still theoretically fast.

We don’t know when the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD will come to market in the U.S., but it is likely soon. It wouldn’t make sense to wait much longer following the device’s announcement to release it.

The T-Mobile SpringBoard is rather old, and could use a refresh, or Huawei could just try to launch the device as a standalone Wi-Fi tablet. It certainly has the specs to compete with similarly-sized Android tablets, but it looks like the iPad owns the 10-inch market and the only successful Android tablet come in at 7-inches.
