Verizon Droid Xyboard Ice Cream Sandwich Updates Imminent

Published

on

Verizon has approved the Motorola Droid Xyboard 10.1 and Droid Xyboard 8.2 Ice Cream Sandwich updates which means that the updates should be rolling to owners in the near future.

Verizon has posted the installation instructions for both the Droid Xyboard 10.1 and the Droid Xyboard 8.2, a sign that the updates are close and should be rolling out within a matter of hours or days.

Thus far, Verizon and Motorola have remained mum on any of the specifics but we expect to hear from one of them in the near future in regards to the official Droid Xyboard ICS roll out.

The news comes shortly after the Droid Xyboard Ice Cream Sandwich updates for the Wi-Fi models began to roll out. At the time, we didn’t know when the 4G LTE models would see their updates but fortunately, Verizon cleared that up pretty quickly.

Verizon has approved ICS for the Droid Xyboard tablets.

Ice Cream Sandwich will bring a host of new features to owners of Verizon’s 4G LTE versions of the Droid Xyboard, features that are a big improvement over their previous version of Android software.

On board will be a number of new features including Face Unlock, an improved browser, a different user interface, a new lock screen, an enhanced notification bar, and a whole lot more.

Verizon will likely pack some bug fixes for the tablets.

The ICS updates for the Droid Xyboard 10.1 and Droid Xyboard 8.2 are going to be over 300MB which means owners will want to practice patience when downloading and installing them.

Owners will want to check their device settings to see if the update is available. Once it is, a prompt will appear and the download process will begin. Once that is finished, the device will need to install the software and reboot.

Again, with an update that size, it could take awhile before the software is ready to be used.

So, owners of the Droid Xyboard on Verizon, keep an eye out for new software in the near future. Ice Cream Sandwich should be headed to both devices soon.

TODAY VERIZON DOWNLOADED THIS TO MY PHONE AND IT CRASHED MY PHONE TOTALLY!

this morning at 7 AM, I was in bed checking e-mails, and social web sites. This is common for me. At about 7:10, I got a message from verizon I need to up date my new softwear…so like always I hit “accept”….I went in and left the phone on the night stand as it did “it’s thing”…I come out and my phone was totally LOCKED UP!

This phone is the NEW DRIOD and I have only had it since April of 2012.

I drove into work and the phone was nothing but a brick! I took it to my local Verizon store and the guy said, “OH YOU DOWN LOADED ICS HUH”….I said, “I have no idea what that is but yea I downloaded the new softwear verizon sent me..” He explained that this softwear has been a problem for several phone types in the verizon inventory (this was also confirmed by a sprint sales person-more on him later!).

The verizon tech mess with my phone for an hour-I lost two highly important calls in this time. Then he called Tech support- and they looked at it for another period of time-In all about 2 hours! The soultion was to be without my phone for 2 or 3 days. I have been a verizon account holder with the same number since the mid-1990′s and never had a late payment or issue. I am the customer they want!

Verizon was not only inflexable, I was going to loose business becuase my cell phone is for work! When is became apparent that Verizon was NOT GOING TO GIVE ME A NEW PHONE, THEY COULD NOT FIX THIS PHONE-MY PHONE WAS NOT EVEN CHARGING BECUASE OF THE INTERNAL PROBLEMS,I walked down to sprint.

I told the guy my phone had “crashed” and he laughed, “oh you down loaded the ICS softwear..why they forced that on customers is beyond me”-SO THIS IS NOT ME-IT IS VERIZON! I explained my problem and I needed a phone.

Sprint’s charge was 85.00 once I gave them my verizon phone and I got a new phone on the spot! I walked back down to Verizon-got my junk phone-took it to Sprint and he looked at it and said, yea your phone is not even holding a charge now.

Long story short, after a long history with Verizon, I dumped them and ended my service with them becuase of their new soft wear-ICE CREAM SANDWHICH! My phone was so trashed they could only get my contacts- my music, and photos were all gone and the phone was not even charging at a reasonable rate.

I expaect to get some nasty letter from Verizon now for ending my contract with them-but that is fine! I am able to handle that.

THIS SOFT WEAR TRASHED MY PHONE!

ok you people are either electronically alliterative or something, first of all because i have had mine and it has hand no problems and is the greatest tablet on the market, but like all devices you have to know how to use it properly which apparently you don’t…..so enough said.

and the ice cream sandwich for motorola? The ice cream sandwich for Droid Xy-board 10.1 and DX 8.2 will be 300MB – that is a lot of time downloading if you dont have broadband internet but I need it so badly.Installation should be quick.
