Verizon today launched one Samsung Galaxy Note 2 competitor, the LG Intuition, and it looks like it might be launching another competitor, one from HTC, at some point in the future.
According to a leak Engadget, Verizon could be gearing up to launch a 5-inch device made by HTC that possesses model number HTC 6435. The image shows the device sitting in Verizon’s Device Management System (DMS) and that could mean that it’s heading to shelves at some point in the not-so-distant future.
Of course, this is not the first time we’ve heard about this new HTC smartphone. It has shown up twice before, most recently, in benchmarks that seemed to confirm several of its specifications.
Those benchmarks point to a device that has a 1,794 x 1,080 resolution display, pretty incredible, a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It will also likely have 4G LTE data speeds.
We also saw a device show up in a photo that may or may not be HTC’s rumored phablet. The phone has red accents, a protruding camera lens and the Beats Audio branding on the rear.
So, it’s becoming clear that HTC has something up its sleeve in the phablet arena, it’s just a matter of when the company might announce the new device that will compete for the hearts and minds of consumers with the LG Intuition and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, the latter of which launches in the U.S. later this year.
HTC does have an event scheduled for September 19th which could be for Android, Windows Phone 8 or both. And it’s possible that we could see this device pop up there.
In addition, the DMS lists a Nokia Lumia 822 which may be a Windows Phone 8 device headed to Verizon this year.
The carrier confirmed that it will offer multiple Windows Phone 8 devices this year.
