Another Verizon Galaxy Note 2 Competitor Surfaces

By  |  16 Comments

Verizon today launched one Samsung Galaxy Note 2 competitor, the LG Intuition, and it looks like it might be launching another competitor, one from HTC, at some point in the future.

According to a leak Engadget, Verizon could be gearing up to launch a 5-inch device made by HTC that possesses model number HTC 6435. The image shows the device sitting in Verizon’s Device Management System (DMS) and that could mean that it’s heading to shelves at some point in the not-so-distant future.

Of course, this is not the first time we’ve heard about this new HTC smartphone. It has shown up twice before, most recently, in benchmarks that seemed to confirm several of its specifications.

HTC’s 5-inch phablet may be close to launch.

Those benchmarks point to a device that has a 1,794 x 1,080 resolution display, pretty incredible, a dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. It will also likely have 4G LTE data speeds.

We also saw a device show up in a photo that may or may not be HTC’s rumored phablet. The phone has red accents, a protruding camera lens and the Beats Audio branding on the rear.

This could be HTC’s 5-inch device.

So, it’s becoming clear that HTC has something up its sleeve in the phablet arena, it’s just a matter of when the company might announce the new device that will compete for the hearts and minds of consumers with the LG Intuition and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, the latter of which launches in the U.S. later this year.

HTC does have an event scheduled for September 19th which could be for Android, Windows Phone 8 or both. And it’s possible that we could see this device pop up there.

In addition, the DMS lists a Nokia Lumia 822 which may be a Windows Phone 8 device headed to Verizon this year.

The carrier confirmed that it will offer multiple Windows Phone 8 devices this year.

The LG phone is a piece of garbage. Hope the HTC phone is better. Why is Verizon going out of its way to present us with crappy phones when the Galaxy Note 2 is there?

If Verizon bring in the superior product like Note 2, it would be(somewhat) disastorous for other carriers. Kinda like when iPhone finally decided to go with Verizon, people waited 5+ months for it to finally release. Some said that was going to be the downfall of ATT. Now all carriers knows this. So when carriers like Verizon pass on a superior product, they simply is trying to balance out with other carriers so no carriers would suffer out. Kinda like a planned poker.
But this is only my guess, I probably am wrong.
Hopefully I am wrong and Verizon is stupid.

on top of that, Verizon has better business relationship with HTC & Motorola more than they do with Samsung.

The specs and benchmarks of the HTC DLX are superior to the Note 2 so I can understand why Verizon wouldn’t carry the Note.

I don’t understand how Verizon can pass on the Note 2. I understand that they may not have the close working relationship with Samsung that they do with HTC or Motorola, however it”s not as if they don’t sell Samsung products.

I too have been awaiting news that Verizon has picked up the Note 2. I am by no means a techie, but I do live out in the middle of the sticks & am lucky to even get the internet connection on my phone let alone trying to get connectivity on a device through my mobile hot spot. So since I use my phone to meet 90% of my internet needs, I could definitely use the bigger screen. Also, Verizon has replaced a ridiculous amount of Thunderbolts & Rezounds for us only to finally admit that HTC has some connectivity issues in my area. That leaves me with only the Motorola to choose. It does not even appeal to me aesthetically let alone any other manner.

So my question is this, is it just that Verizon Sales/Marketing is being stupid & maybe if I hold out they will get their act together? Or is there a possibility that Samsung has just chosen to not offer the Note 2 to Verizon so all of us who live in rural areas in which Big Red isn’t just the best option, but pretty much the only option, are again just going to be left “optionless”

    dang… that’s kinda sad..
Verizon really need to hear from people like you more.
There are other rumors that says Verizon do not like the price of the newest Samsung products they offer at beginning. And Samsung usually don’t give discounts. and that’s where the spark begins.. rumors rumors…
