Verizon iPhone 5 No Longer Available for Release Day Delivery

Published

on

The Verizon iPhone 5, which only a short time ago was available for release day delivery, now is showing a delivery date by September 26th, five days after the iPhone 5’s September 21st release date.

Earlier today, Verizon listed the 16GB iPhone 5 and 32GB iPhone 5 as being available for delivery on September 21st, the device’s release date. The 64GB iPhone 5 model was listed with a September 26th delivery date.

However, now Verizon’s website lists all three phones without release day delivery and instead, says that they all will be delivered by September 26th if ordered right now.

The Verizon iPhone 5 is now being delivered by September 26th.

AT&T is also experiencing shipping delays due to the high demand for the iPhone 5 while Sprint continues to offer release day delivers for all three iPhone 5 models.

We expect that shipping dates will be pushed back even further as more and more people place orders between now and the September 21st release date. That means that those looking to snag an iPhone 5 on AT&T or Verizon anywhere close to September 21st would be wise to place a pre-order right now otherwise face waiting in line on September 21st at a physical retail location.

Waiting in line at a retail location doesn’t necessarily mean getting an iPhone 5 on release day either. Stores generally have limited stock available and once that stock is depleted, customers will be out of luck.

Yesterday, prospective Verizon iPhone 5 buyers got a bit of a surprise when Verizon announced that its device would not be able to handle simultaneous voice and data, a feature that might just be a deal breaker for some.

In addition, Verizon is not allowing customers with unlimited data plans to buy the phone on-contract and keep that plan. Those who want to keep unlimited data must buy the iPhone 5 with an unsubsidized price tag.

Verizon’s iPhone 5, like the others, will feature a 4-inch display, 4G LTE data speeds, a new design, and Apple’s new operating system, iOS 6.
