Samsung Galaxy S IV Rumors Shot Down

By  |  3 Comments

Yesterday, a rumor surfaced indicating that Samsung was gearing up to announce the Galaxy S IV at Mobile World Congress and release it in March of next year. Today, Samsung took to Twitter to dispel that rumor leaving the Galaxy S IV launch completely up in the air.

Samsung took to its Samsung Tomorrow Twitter account and shot down the Galaxy S IV rumors before they spread any further. The company’s message, which was posted in Korean, essentially states that the speculation surrounding the device is not true and that it’s purely rumor.

The fact that Samsung took the time to dispel the rumor on an official social media page means that a launch in February and a release in March is unlikely.

The Galaxy S III won’t be replaced any time soon.

This shouldn’t come as too much of a shock as the Galaxy S III is still selling well. It also launched in July which means that a launch in March would be way ahead of a yearly cycle. In addition, Samsung now uses its own events to launch its devices and an announcement at MWC just didn’t fit that mold.

So, now it looks like we’ll likely have to wait until summer for the Galaxy S IV which is probably what many were expecting to begin with.

The rumored Galaxy S IV specifications may not be too far-fetched though. They stated that the device would feature a gigantic 5-inch display and come with 4G LTE speeds and some version of Android, likely Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Google’s latest.

All of those are certainly possible especially the 4G LTE and Jelly Bean. The Galaxy S III boasts a 4.8-inch display and it’s possible that Samsung will boost the screen size of it with the next-generation model.

So, it now appears that those thinking about picking up the Galaxy S III can now do so without worrying about a fairly imminent launch of its successor.

This is what Apple needs to do-nip the rumors in the bud and stop them before they potentially go on any further. I respect Samsung for putting an end to the unnecessary and ridiculous claims that can create unreal parallels (iPhone 4S rumors). Apple should take note.
