A number of users are reporting problems logging into their phone on Android smartphones and tablets, with login errors popping up. It appears that this issue isn’t due to user error–like typing in an incorrect username or password–but is a result of Google’s glitch.
Curiously, though, while various Android devices are reporting issues with logins, it appears that apps and services are working properly and still synchronizing with Google’s servers. Gmail, Google Play Store, Google Talk, and other apps and services appear to be functioning fine despite the error message.
According to Phone Arena, the issue may be related to Google Now and is affecting mainly Android 4.1 Jelly Bean users. It’s unclear if Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich users or older versions of the Google mobile OS are impacted by the error messages. On my AT&T Samsung Galaxy S III running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, I have not noticed any login error popup message as of the time of this writing. Accessing Google services through the web is also fine at this time.
There’s been a slew of user complaints on Twitter. Is anyone having any problems with logging in? If you are, post us a note along with what version of the Android OS your device is on and what device you’re using.

I have a Galaxy Nexus GSM with Stock Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean and I got the issue yesterday, at first I thought that someone changed my password but then I went and checked from the computer and it was fine. Then I checked the accounts menu and everything was working fine despite the fact that I dismissed the login error after several tries. It was fine except for Google Now
The problem exists in ics as well. I’m running galaxy s2 on ics 4.0.4. The google play store was not working. I reset the phone and now i can’t even sign into google. Stranded helpless… :-(
Yes on Nexus 7
I have a Samsung Galaxy SIII with Ice Cream Sandwich on Verizon. No login issues, but Talk messages cannot be sent. Receive red error message “This message couldn’t be sent”. However, logging into the desktop app, or through G+ appears to work fine. I restarted the phone and the app is still not functioning properly. Any resolution would be greatly appreciated.

I have the new DROID razor and before I had a DROIDX. If I open the browser and have it logged in, the browser flips back and forth as if its loved in and then constantly trying to log in again. Tried to clear the data cache, but only wound up losing my links and my login. Which actually fixed the problem. Don’t log on with the browser.
