Samsung Galaxy Note 2 U.S. Release Date Roundup

As we approach the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 launch date in the United States, we are beginning to get a clearer picture about what to expect from the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 U.S. release date. Thus far, only one carrier has confirmed the Galaxy Note 2′s release date and on the heels of that, we wanted to fill you in on the latest in regards to the Galaxy Note 2′s debut here in the United States.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is a highly anticipated 5.5-inch Android phablet which will be replacing the original Galaxy Note which debuted in the United States earlier this year on AT&T. The name phablet is derived from its unique screen size which is much bigger than your average phone. It also employs a S-Pen stylus, a device that is typically used with slates.

And while many were skeptical about the device’s chances the first time around, the Galaxy Note succeeded where other phablet devices like the Dell Streak failed.

Now, it’s time for the sequel, the Galaxy Note 2, a device that features a larger HD screen, a faster quad-core processor, an improved S-Pen, a larger battery in a thinner frame, and of course, 4G LTE speeds and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.

Still, there are two key elements that remain missing for some of the U.S. bound Galaxy Note 2 devices. Namely, price and release date. Last month we got our first taste of pricing and earlier today, our suspicions were confirmed. We also got our first look at a release date for the Galaxy Note 2 in the U.S. That being said, let’s take a look at everything we know about the Galaxy Note 2 U.S. release date thus far.

AT&T Galaxy Note 2

As of yet, AT&T has not released any information about the Galaxy Note 2 release date other than to say that it will arrive sometime in the future. At this point, we have our suspicions that all Galaxy Note 2 release dates might not be created equal.

In a press release yesterday, AT&T stated that the LG Optimus G would be its first smartphone using a quad-core processor and 4G LTE, the same hardware found on the Galaxy Note 2.

Problem is, the LG Optimus G is coming out on November 2nd. So if AT&T’s press release was accurate, and at this point, we have to assume that it is, the carrier may not launch the device until November. Of course, there is hope given that Sprint will be launching its device in October and we advise interested parties to stay optimistic.

As for pricing, we imagine that AT&T will be charging $299.99 on-contract, the price that was tacked on by Sprint today and U.S. Cellular. a few weeks ago.

Sprint Galaxy Note 2

Currently, the Sprint Galaxy Note 2 is the only U.S.-bound Galaxy Note 2 with an official release date and pricing. Earlier today, Sprint confirmed a Galaxy Note 2 release date of October 25th, just a day after the Galaxy Note 2 launch event in New York.

It also confirmed pricing at $299.99 on-contract, which should be the pricing across the board.

T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2

T-Mobile, which recently released the original Galaxy Note, only to opt for the Galaxy Note 2, is rumored to be launching the Galaxy Note 2 on October 24th. However, it’s unclear if, in T-Mobile speak, launch means launch or release so a release date for the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 remains unknown.

T-Mobile was able to get the Galaxy S III out before any of the other four carriers which means that we could see a launch early in the game rather than later.

As for pricing, T-Mobile typically charges a premium on high-end devices but without support for 4G LTE, we doubt that it does something similar with the Galaxy Note 2.

Verizon Galaxy Note 2

Thus far, we haven’t seen any clues as far as the Verizon Galaxy Note 2 release date is concerned. The carrier did just launch the LG Intuition and it’s about to launch the Droid RAZR HD so it could be that it’s waiting a bit before it delivers the Galaxy Note 2.

Of course, we have heard that a 5-inch Droid Incredible X phablet may launch in November so Verizon might be still trying to decide when to release the Galaxy Note 2.

As for pricing, expect it to be competitive which means $299.99 on-contract.

U.S. Cellular Galaxy Note 2

Last but not least is the U.S. Cellular Galaxy Note 2 which has been up for pre-order for $299.99 on-contract since September. Originally, U.S. Cellular told us that the device would be shipping out in October and at this point, again given Sprint’s announcement, we have no reason not to believe it.

Unfortunately, the carrier has not passed along an official release date yet but if it does plan on releasing the Galaxy Note 2 in October, we expect to see a release date emerge soon.

I would like a specific day for AT&T. I have been disappointed in my iPhone 5 and am thinking of switching my phone. I really like the features this one is offering;)

      • Note Lover says

I know what you mean mwolverine! It seems like they are trying to shoot down TMO Note 2 before the phone is even out of the gate! I can’t wait for it to get released through TMO, I’ll be getting it on the day it’s released.

People trying to hate on T-mobile is just jealous that in the near future we will have LTE ADVANCED 10 with the current HSPA PLUS 42MPS back hauled. T mobile will have the BEST LTE NETWORK come September 2013 you can count on that. Plus with UNLIMITED DATA and a monthly 77 dollar bill the best place to have the GALAXY NOTE 2 will be on t mobile. I left Verizon and it’s overrated LTE network in June of this year for tmobile and I am happty I did. Verizon has very poor reception, dreadful signal strenght and a unstable network that drains batteries on every LTE handset. Verizon is useless big foot print means nothing paying more is stupid for less service ask the Verizon Galaxy Nexus owners how they feel about Verizon I use to be one. Now my Galaxy S3 is pimp slapping any Galaxy Nexus on Verizon. I will be picking up the Galaxy Note 2 day one of launch…

  5. Rudy says

This is bullshit. Att better get it first. This is one of the reasons we pay their premium rates

  6. GOAT says

I have been patiently waiting for the Note 2. I have to reboot my iPhone 4 at least once a day. iPhone 5 is weak compared to the Note 2. The Apple fan base is slowly coming around and admitting that they are now playing catch-up with Samsung. In my Mr. Burns voice, Release the Note 2.

  7. NOTE LOVER says

The Note 2 is finally in T-Mobile’s line up this morning! Although it says ‘Coming Soon’, it’s a little glimmer of hope that it shouldn’t be too much longer!

Hey Mrxk that’s cool im not mad @ ya homie……I just recently left Sprint. Don’t get me wrong the plan I had kicked ass, but unfortunately the reception is horrible where I live. I’ve been with just about every wireless company but at&t, so I decided to give em a try and it’s like night and day. But to each its own. you feel me…….hope you’ll enjoy your note 2 on the 25th!!¡!!!!!!!! ONE

      • Mrxk says

Hey I’m just saying, I’m not knocking any other carriers, cause lte Anywhere is a work in progress but I can wait. overall said and done when sprint’s network is complete. It should definitely bring the bang for your buck.

        • Sunnyblk says

I can dig it homie…… I’m not a hater, that’s not in me period!!!!!! So therefore I can relate to what saying.,,…….
