Today, at the iPad Mini event, Apple announced both a new 7-inch iPad Mini and a revamped iPad fourth-generation that will replace the new third-generation iPad that Apple announced earlier this year.
Both devices will be available ahead of the holiday shopping season. Apple revealed that customers will be able to pre-order the iPad Mini models and iPad fourth-generation starting this Friday on October 26th. No time was given though we imagine that it will begin at the usual midnight time, same as the iPhone 5.
The pre-order dates for the iPad Mini and iPad fourth-generation will be coming ahead of their release dates. Both Wi-Fi only models of the iPad Mini will be shipping out on November 2nd. However, Apple did not specify when the 4G LTE models would become available. We imagine that it won’t be too far off from the November 2nd shipping dates however.
Those details will likely be released soon.
Both the iPad fourth-generation and the iPad Mini will be coming in six different configurations as both offer cellular data and Wi-Fi. The iPad Mini 16GB Wi-Fi only will be the least expensive version of the smaller iPad and it will retail for $329. The most expensive iPad Mini will be the 4G LTE version which will cost $659.
As for the new fourth-generation iPad, it will cost the same as the original third-generation iPad despite its enhancements. The 16GB iPad will feature a $499 price tag while it will go all the way up to $829 for a 64GB 4G LTE iPad.
The new iPad Mini features a smaller 7.9-inch display, 4G LTE for AT&T, Sprint and Verizon, 10 hours of battery life, A5 processor, 5MP rear camera, HD front-facing camera and a smaller design.
As for the new fourth-generation iPad, it features a new A6 chip, Lightning port, an HD FaceTime camera and Sprint 4G LTE. The overall design of the new iPad fourth-generation remains unchanged however.
