At the iPad Mini event today, Apple surprised by announcing a new fourth-generation iPad which is an improved version of the new iPad that was announced back in March of this year and will be coming to Sprint’s 4G LTE network.

The new fourth-generation iPad will feature a number of improvements including a new front-facing FaceTime HD camera and a new A6 processor which is double the performance of the previous generation’s processor which is the A5X. The new fourth-generation iPad features double the graphics performance while offering the same 10-hour battery life.

In addition, the new iPad will be heading to Sprint’s 4G LTE network, the same network that the new iPhone 5 runs on. It’s unclear if Sprint will be offering unlimited data but because it doesn’t offer unlimited data with other tablets, there is a chance that it may not.

Apple has announced a new fourth-generation iPad.

Apple also says that it will feature faster Wi-Fi and also the new Lightning dock connector that came with the new iPhone 5 and will allow Apple to spurn the accessory market this holiday season.

It has also added Lightning to USB and Lightning to an SD card reader cables that will work in conjunction with the new iPad’s dock connector.

The new fourth-generation iPad will come in both black and white.

As for pricing and release date, the pricing of the new fourth-generation iPad won’t change. A 16GB iPad Wi-Fi only model will run for $499 and will go up to $699 for a 64GB model. It will also come in 4G LTE form and the pricing will start at $629 for a 16GB fourth-generation iPad with 4G LTE.

We imagine that Sprint will be charging this price, same as AT&T and Verizon.

Other than those hardware changes and the addition of Sprint, the device is the same device that was launched back in March of this year which means it will still feature a 9.7-inch Retina Display, iOS 6 and the same iSight rear camera.

Pre-orders start this Friday and the Wi-Fi models will start arriving on November 2nd.
