It appears that the Sprint Galaxy S III might get its Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update tomorrow, according to a leaked document that revealed tomorrow as the device’s roll out date.
The leaked image, which first appeared on XDA-Developers forums, seems to indicate that Sprint will be rolling out a Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for its Samsung Galaxy S III starting tomorrow. If true, it would be the first U.S. carrier to provide Android 4.1 Jelly Bean for the Samsung Galaxy S III. Keep in mind, this is a leak and it could be fake.
Something else to keep in mind is that says right there on the leaked document that the date of the roll out is subject to change so it’s possible that tomorrow will come and go with an upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Carriers have been known to change roll out dates on the fly and that means that it’s possible that we could see something similar happen here.
From the leaked screenshot though, we see that Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is the big update but that there will be other enhancements on board as well including one for 4G LTE connectivity and Exchange.
Android 4.1 Jelly Bean is the latest version of Android and it will be bringing a number of enhancements for Sprint Galaxy S III users including a smoother user interface, better Google applications including Gmail, enhanced Notifications, re-sizable Widgets and a whole lot more. It’s a vast improvement over Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the piece of software currently present on Sprint’s Galaxy S III.
As for the update itself, it looks like Sprint’s Galaxy S III will see the update roll out in waves. This means that it could be a few weeks before some users see the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update arrive.
Once it does arrive though, users will be able to pull it OTA through the device’s Settings. Owners of the device will want to head into the Settings, then About, then Check for the update to see if it’s available.
If it is, it will download and install automatically.
We’ll keep our eyes out for a roll out.
Thanks, everyone who sent this in!
