The iPad fourth-generation, which just a few days ago replaced the new iPad in Apple’s tablet arsenal, is now sold out through Apple’s online store ahead of its November 2nd release date.
Apple’s online store currently shows the new iPad fourth-generation with shipping dates that have be pushed to one week which means that those placing orders today, will not get the device on its release date, November 2nd. Instead, those seeking an iPad fourth-gen on its release date will have to brave Apple’s physical retail locations in an attempt to secure one.
The sell out comes just four days after Apple began taking pre-orders for the iPad fourth-generation which joins the new iPad mini in Apple’s holiday lineup.
The 4G LTE version of the iPad fourth-generation still says it’s available to ship in Mid November though a specific date is not yet known.
As for the iPad mini, it also is sold out through Apple’s online store, and those looking to snag one on launch day will have to brave physical locations as well. In fact, those looking for Apple’s smaller new iPad mini would be wise to try a store this Friday as the device is currently seeing shipping dates of two weeks while the iPad fourth-generation only sees one week delay in shipping.
The iPad fourth-generation is arriving less than a year after Apple launched the new iPad, which took place in March, and it will be coming with a number of improvements over the previous third-generation model.
First, it’s coming with a new HD FaceTime camera for video-chatting purposes. Apple also equipped it with a new A6 processor, the new Lightning port found on the iPhone 5 and Sprint 4G LTE. Previous iPad models only ran on the 4G LTE networks of AT&T and Verizon.
It’s unclear how this launch will affect Apple’s usual March launch of the iPad. It could be that this is Apple’s new cycle but it’s also possible that Apple could release a newer iPad in March of next year.
Look for rumors to swirl about the possibility over the next few months.
