The Dream Jailbreak Untethered iOS 6 jailbreak for the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S and other Apple devices remains the subject of scrutiny by well-known iOS hackers even as the “video” of the claimed jailbreak is uploading to the Internet.
Dream Jailbreak claims to be in possession of a userland Untethered iOS 6 jailbreak set for a December 22nd release.
In order to prove this iOS 6 jailbreak is not a fake or a scam the person behind the Dream Jailbreak is uploading video proof of the iOS 6 jailbreak for the iPhone 5, but as the jailbreak community waits, well-known hackers cast doubts on the prospect of a real iPhone 5 jailbreak.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a video claiming to prove an iOS 6 jailbreak, like the one shown below. This is not the video from Dream Jailbreak, so we could see something new later today.
The video above is posted by the ARB Dev Team, which claims the ability to perform an iOS 6.0.1 jailbreak on the all Apple devices running iOS 6, but it is not released or verified by other jailbreak groups.
Nearly 20,000 twitter followers are waiting for the video upload to complete, which will reportedly consist of, “a single-take shot of the entire jailbreak process, including a restart and usage of the device to prove it is untethered. It will be uploaded as raw video straight from my camera to YouTube. So no edits in any form.”
Claims of a successful untethered iOS 6 jailbreak are under skepticism from @MuscleNerd, @p0sixninja aka Joshua Hill and @i0n1c aka Stefan Esser, all well-known iOS hackers responsible for parts of earlier iPhone jailbreaks both public and private.
Shortly after the Dream Jailbreak twitter account shared that proof of the iOS 6 jailbreak is coming later today, MuscleNerd predicted the jailbreak will turn out to be a fake, calling the next play from the, “Faker’s Guide to JB”
If @dreamjailbreak goes by the “Faker’s Guide to JB” closely, he’ll soon justify his scam with silliness like “trying to inspire JBers” etc

Joshua Hill already called out the Jailbreak as a fake on December 8th, but the Jailbreak community is so hopeful that it tends to ignore these declarations.
No matter how many times we say “They’re all fake” no one ever listens….. *sigh* — Joshua Hill (@p0sixninja) December 8, 2012
Stefan Esser claims there will be no public untethered iOS 6 jailbreak, or untethered iOS 6.0.1 jailbreak release. If correct, and the Dream Jailbreak is a fake, we may see the real iOS jailbreak teams hold their work until the iOS 6.1 release so Apple doesn’t patch them as fast.
People should get over it. There won’t be a public iOS 6.0/6.0.1 untethered jailbreak. — Stefan Esser (@i0n1c) December 11, 2012
The most damning claim comes from @CammyWrites, who claims the user behind Dream Jailbreak may be part of other Jailbreak scams.

Whatever the outcome of the Untethered iOS 6 jailbreak video proof is, we should know soon. It’s important not to offer any money for an iOS 6 jailbreak that is not proven and verified by a third party. Dream Jailbreak is not currently accepting funds, but that could change after the video is uploaded.
