Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3 Dock Rumored for Early 2013

Samsung is planning a new audio dock for the Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3 and other Samsung smartphones with a Micro USB port on the bottom of the device.

SamMobile shares news of the rumored Audio Dock which could launch at CES 2013 or MWC 2013 early next year. The dock would reportedly arrive on store shelves before the end of March.

The Samsung audio dock reportedly has dual speakers, rated for a max 3W each. The docking station can power a phone and play audio at the same time, and leaks say it features Bluetooth 3.0, a Micro USB port and a 3.5mm line in. The Samsung Galaxy Note and Galaxy S audio dock will likely arrive in black, red and silver.

The Samsung audio dock for the Galaxy Note 2, Galaxy S3 and other Samsung smartphones is rumored for 2013.

The phone sits in front of the speaker grille, hiding a Samsung logo while docked. With Bluetooth 3.0 on board, users may also get a nice wireless speaker.

The dock would reportedly work with all Samsung smartphones with a Micro USB port on the bottom which means it’s likely designed to match the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 aesthetics, but it should work with older Galaxy Note and Galaxy S2 devices, many of which are still in use.

Samsung teased big things for CES 2013, but we know it won’t be a Galaxy S4 release, so the company may announce a collection of accessories and docks for the existing smartphone lineup. By making accessories that work with any Samsung device with a Micro USB connection on the bottom the company can bring out accessories at CES that will also work with the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3, which we expect in 2013.

The Mobile World Congress launch might mean a launch alongside the Galaxy S4, but that release date is up in the air. An audio dock doesn’t point to a release of any upcoming Galaxy smartphones, but the timing could make it an add-on for some new device.

By focusing on accessories that work across the product line, Samsung may be able to tempt third-party manufacturers to make more Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 accessories. There are enough Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 devices in use to tempt manufacturers, so leadership from Samsung might bring more to the market.
