Later in the month, T-Mobile will be introducing its first 4G LTE network market in Las Vegas, and it now appears that two of the first T-Mobile 4G LTE smartphones have been confirmed as T-Mobile says that the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 will be hitting its network at some point in the future.

Earlier today, T-Mobile CTO Neville Ray confirmed that T-Mobile would be launching its anticipated high-speed 4G LTE network in the coming weeks. The carrier will use Las Vegas as its first LTE market, unsurprising given that the city was one of the first markets to receive HSPA+ 42 support. Neville still has not said when T-Mobile users in Las Vegas will see the network arrive only saying that it would arrive in the coming weeks.

The Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 are both headed to T-Mobile’s 4G LTE network.

And while it announced a new network earlier, it did not announce any 4G LTE devices. That is, until its CES press conference when it seemingly confirmed to The Verge that it would be introducing the Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE at some point in the future. Currently, T-Mobile offers the Samsung Galaxy S3 on its HSPA+ network but the device seemingly does not support its upcoming 4G LTE network like the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 will after a software update.

The carrier has not yet said when the Galaxy S3 will be touching down on its new network but given that its LTE network will arrive this month, it shouldn’t be long before the device arrives on shelves. Also unclear is whether T-Mobile will re-brand the device or if it will simply start replacing the HSPA+ only model with the LTE-compatible Galaxy S3.

When T-Mobile does start offering the LTE version of the Galaxy S3, it will have launched the device more than six months after the competition. AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon released the LTE version of the Galaxy S3 all the way back in June and July of last year.

Additionally, Neville also confirmed that the Galaxy Note 2 is 4G LTE ready and that it will be activated to run on T-Mobile’s 4G LTE network via a small update. He did not say when that update might roll out.

So, for the time being, the Galaxy S3 and the Galaxy Note 2 are the only known devices headed to T-Mobile’s 4G LTE network though we imagine that the carrier will likely offer the upcoming Galaxy S4 as well as an iPhone at some point this year.

I can’t wait I have that same white Galaxy note 2 from t-mobile and I must admit that HSPA+42 is pretty fast but to have LTE on it as well, that’s double trouble for other carriers.

My Galaxy S3 that I bought last year was somehow updated/upgraded [??] to LTE.
    Settings/More Settings/Mobile Networks/Network Mode, it shows “LTE/GSM/WCDMA”
