Published

on

Motorola has updated its support page for Android updates and in addition to the new design and the confirmation that the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX updates are coming at some point during the first quarter of this year, the website also still lists the Motorola Droid Bionic Jelly Bean update as coming at some point in the future.

Prior to the update, Motorola’s Android support page was a clunky mess. However, the update has transformed the page into a easily navigable page wherein owners of Motorola devices can check in to see timing for their Android roll outs. In addition to the new look, Motorola also updated the page with some new information including confirmation that the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX updates will be coming by the end of March.

The Droid Bionic is still slated to receive Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The Droid Bionic is still slated to receive Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

That wasn’t the only good news though as Motorola Droid Bionic owners will be happy to know that the device, which was previously listed as getting Android 4.1. Jelly Bean is still listed as getting Android 4.1 Jelly Bean at some point in the future. Unlike the timing for the Droid RAZR and RAZR MAXX updates, the site does not list any kind of timing for the Droid Bionic’s Jelly Bean roll out.

This of course could mean that the update is extremely far off, perhaps beyond the Q1 window. If that’s the case, and it could be, the update may not roll out until April at the earliest. Droid Bionic owners should take solace in the fact that Motorola remains committed to updating this device at some point down the road.

Hopefully, the roll out does not turn out like the Android 4.0 ICS update for the Droid Bionic which saw it delayed beyond its initial promised roll out window. Instead, the update wound up rolling out at the end of last year after a lengthy wait for the new software.

Motorola originally promised the Droid Bionic Jelly Bean update back in October, shortly after ICS rolled out.

My Droid Bionic will be that last Motorola I buy. I feel like I’ve been left out in the cold.

      Dude.

We got our ICS update — and we will be getting our JB update, what’s not to love?

Why is the Droid Bionic always treated like the redheaded stepchild? Always promises and get them after everyone else has them and has moved on to better software. Always a step behind everyone else. This has gotten very old.

Yeah, we got it a full year after the promised rollout and way after the phone became old news. It the JB release is at all like the ICS release, we’ll see it in December.

That’s nice we will have the update just in time when my contract with Verizon ends. So the update won’t mean anything and I’ll have be on a cheaper network running a nexus device.

About ready to pay cash for an HTC DNA to keep my unlimited data. I regret having upgraded my bionic to ICS. I had better performance from GB and fewer random issues. Have factory reset twice since upgrading to ICS to try to resolve random issues. Tired of waiting for Moto to make good on updates. I don’t know if it is Moto or Verizon though!

My first Motorola, my last Motorola. Besides the late release off the phone and ICS now jelly bean is going to get released late. You would think that they would be on top of this, so they can save face to ALL Droid customers.

Patience my friends…patience….and since you guys are so fed up with your bionic and don’t really care about it (like me), why not play around with some roms? I’ve used eclipse for a while and I love it. It’s like a totally new phone. I’ve been due for an upgrade through verizon but don’t want to loose my unlimited data. So one thing to look forward to is the Motorola X phone. I’ll be keeping mine until that comes out and pay for it out of my contract since motorola said it’ll be affordable and priced like the nexus 4.
